The reigning MLB World Series champions Washington Nationals are scheduled to host the New York Yankees on the opening day of the league’s new season.
The game is scheduled to take place at Washington Nationals Park, but the exact date of the postponed start of the new season is not yet known.
The new MLB schedule is set to begin July 23 or 24, and the season is set to end Sept. 27. The schedule has been cut to 60 games for each team. League management and the MLB players’ union agreed to it Tuesday.
Teams will play 10 games each against their four division rivals, and the remaining 20 regular-season games will be played against teams from their own division.
The Washington Nationals are the reigning MLB champions. The Metropolitan team beat the Houston Astros in the final series last season.
