Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout hit his 300th career home run in the Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season game. The Angels defeated the Houston Astros 10-9.
Trout, 29, set a francise record for the most home runs, surpassing Tim Salmon’s accomplishment. He also became one of only 151 players in MLB history to hit 300 home runs, with only 16 of the baseball players doing so before the age of 30.
In addition, Mike Trout hit 300 home runs and 200 stolen bases faster than anyone else in MLB history. It took him 1,235 games to do so. Second place went to Willie Mays, who needed 1,295 games.
Last March, the outfielder signed the most expansive contract in sports history with the Angels, signing a 12-year deal that will earn him $426.5 million.
Trout has played for the Los Angeles Angels since 2011. Since then, he has won the season MVP award three times (2014, 2016, 2019). In his debut year with the team, he was named the MLB’s top rookie.
That said, the Angels have a low winning percentage this season (0.390), ranking only fourth in the West Division.
